Chapter 11
11.1
So receive anyone who comes and teaches you all the things stated above.
11.2
But if the teacher turns away and presents a different teaching so as to undermine these things, do not listen. If, however, the teaching adds to righteousness and knowledge of the Lord, receive the teacher as the Lord.
11.3
Concerning the apostles and prophets, act in accordance with the rule of the gospel as follows.
11.4
Every apostle who comes to you is to be received as the Lord.
11.5
But the apostle is not to stay for more than one day or, if necessary, a second; if the apostle stays for three days, that person is a false prophet.
11.6
When leaving, the apostle is to take nothing except enough bread to last until they find lodging. If the apostle asks for money, that person is a false prophet.
11.7
Do not test or judge any prophet who speaks in the Spirit; for every sin will be forgiven, but this sin will not be forgiven.
11.8
Not everyone who speaks in the Spirit is a prophet, but only one who follows the Lord’s ways. A false prophet, then, is distinguished from a prophet by conduct.
11.9
Any prophet who arranges a meal in the Spirit is not to eat from it; otherwise, that person is a false prophet.
11.10
Any prophet who teaches the truth but does not practise what they teach is a false prophet.
11.11
Any prophet who has been tested and found genuine, and who performs an action with reference to the earthly mystery of the church, without teaching others to do what the prophet does, is not to be judged by you. For judgement concerning that prophet rests with God; the prophets of old acted in the same way.
11.12
If anyone says in the Spirit, ‘Give me money,’ or asks for something else, do not listen. But if the prophet tells you to give for others who are in need, no one is to judge the prophet.
