Chapter 8

Your fasts are not to coincide with those of the hypocrites, for they fast on Mondays and Thursdays; you, however, are to fast on Wednesdays and Fridays.

And do not pray as the hypocrites do, but pray as the Lord commanded in his gospel: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be made holy; may your kingdom come; may your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today the bread we need, and forgive us our debt, as we too forgive our debtors. Do not bring us into trial, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the power and the glory for ever.’

Pray in this way three times a day.
